It’s April, which officially means it’s FIESTA time! If you’re from San Antonio, you probably are quite familiar with the huge city-wide event that brings us all together to celebrate our heritage, culture, history, and diversity. But did you know there’s a larger purpose behind the 11-day-long party, more meaningful than parades, flower crowns, and chicken on a stick?
Fiesta is often referred to as a “party with a purpose.” Why? Because proceeds from each Fiesta event are donated to local non-profits to help them provide essential social, cultural, and economic services to our community year-round.
As the only local, non-profit health plan in the area, Fiesta hits close to home for Community First – not just geographically, but also because our mission is similar, to serve our community. We strive to better the lives of the community we serve, and we put in the work to connect with and help those in need. And although we haven’t been around QUITE as long as Fiesta, we understand our community because our roots are here. Community First was founded right here in San Antonio nearly 30 years ago, and our employees work and live here. Our Members are our neighbors and our friends.
Now for the fun part – Community First is excited to announce that we are once again participating in the 2024 Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau parades! We can’t wait to show off our float! You can also find us at several other official Fiesta events, including Walk for Autism by Any Baby Can and Fiesta Especial®
Fiesta begins on Thursday, April 18. We hope that you enjoy our city’s biggest “party with a purpose,” and remember to have fun and be safe. For a full list of events with dates, times, and locations, visit FiestaSanAntonio.org. And as a reminder, Fiesta is one event that we participate in on a larger scale, but you can find Community First at smaller, local events in Bexar County and its seven surrounding counties all year long.
