As the weather begins to finally cool down, now is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. Luckily, San Antonio has no shortage of festive fall fun perfect for the whole family!
We’ve put together a list of local autumn activities for all. Get out there and enjoy!
Pick The Perfect Pumpkin. It wouldn’t be fall without pumpkin patches! Take the kids, enjoy some fall fun, and pick the perfect pumpkin. Many locations open the first week of October. View this Pumpkin Patch Map to find one near you.
Inclusive Fun for All. Head out to the 16th annual AccessABILITY Fest on Saturday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hemisfair for inclusive fun for people of all ages and abilities! This free event includes activities, performances, and information on programs and services that promote independence and inclusion where individuals with disabilities live, work, and play.
Celebrate Our Seniors. ‘Tis the season to celebrate our community’s seniors! On the heels of National Senior Citizen Appreciation Day in August and Grandparent’s Day in mid-September, Community First Health Plans is organizing a Senior Citizen Appreciation Fiesta of our own on Friday, October 7, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Texas Diabetes Institute (701 S. Zarzamora St.) Seniors and their families are invited to join in on the fun. Free giveaways, fresh produce, Bingo, live music, and more!
Honor Hispanic Heritage. Hispanic Trails Cultural Festival, a free, one-day event happening Saturday, October 15, from 12 to 8 p.m., celebrates Hispanic and Latin traditions and cultures from all over the world. Come out to Wonderland Mall to enjoy a Latin talent show, Folklorico dances, arts and crafts, and more!
Get Spooky. Celebrate Halloween with the entire family at The DoSeum’s Spooktacular on Wednesday, October 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.! Enjoy themed activities, trick-or-treating, and arts & crafts in an inclusive, sensory-friendly environment that supports children of all needs. And don’t forget Free Family Nights on Monday, October 3 and Monday, November 7, made possible by Community First.
Celebrate Loved Ones Lost. A long-standing tradition that began in Mexico, Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is a special day to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed. The 10th annual Dia de los Muertos Fest takes place at Hemisfair in downtown San Antonio on October 29 and 30. Muertos Fest is a free event and open to the public.
Sprechen Sie Fun? Immerse yourself in German culture with a Texas twist at Wurstfest ! Head out to Landa Park in New Braunfels for the annual celebration November 4 – 13 with free admission Monday, November 7 through Thursday, November 10 from 5 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, November 13 from 3 to 10 p.m.
See the Lights. Celebrate the traditional Indian festival, Diwali, with fellow San Antonians at the DiwaliSA Festival of Lights Parade along the San Antonio River Walk on Saturday, November 5, from 4:30 p.m. until midnight. Free and open to the public, enjoy live entertainment, over 2,000 floating lanterns to be released into the night sky, and fireworks!
