The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG) and law enforcement partners have issued an alert regarding fraudulent attempts to reroute Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) to fraudulent accounts.
Key Details:
State Medicaid agencies have experienced targeted attacks, including instances where falsified EFT forms were submitted to redirect payments intended for institutional providers. While private payers have also been subject to these schemes, no confirmed financial losses have been reported to date.
Who Can Report?
Anyone who suspects fraud, waste, and abuse should report their concerns to the OIG Hotline. OIG addresses complaints about misconduct and mismanagement in HHS programs, fraudulent claims submitted to Federal health care programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, abuse or neglect in nursing homes, and many more.
